Strong interactions at high energies: from deep inelastic scattering to heavy ion collisions

Strong interactions are described by a non-abelian field theory, known as quantum chromodynamics (QCD). Some aspects of QCD, relevant to  high energy collider experiments, will be  presented. In particular, I will talk about QCD evolution equations, the phenomenon of gluon saturation, the quark-gluon plasma and its dual description in terms of  five-dimensional gravity.
